Lithuanian cinema will be under spotlight during 3rd BEAST IFF, bringing the national debut of Wonderful Losers by Arunas Matelis, full retrospective of Aistė Žegulytė's work, from early short films to the latest experimental documentary Animus Animalis (A Story About People, Animals and Things).
More than that, the program includes a comprehensive restrospective under the umbrella of Lithuanian Heritage (works by Henrikas Sablevicius, Edmundas Zubavicius, Algimantas Maceina, Arūnas Žebriūnas or Deimantas Narkevicius) and a tribute to Jonas Mekas, pioneer of avant-garde film, with the exhibition of Walden (1968), Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania (1972) and Out-Takes from the Life of a Happy Man (2012).
Opening the festival is Marija Kavtaradze's road-movie Summer Survivors while Focus Country: Lithuania will be completed by Baltic Wave Film Festival, presenting a special collection of short films representing the festival programming in the last 10 years.
This years Focus Country program is the result of the continious partneship with Lithuanian Filmmakers Union and organised with the support of Lithuanian Film Center.
