BIOGRAFIA

lldze Felsberga is a young film director with a deep interest in conceptual cinema. Starting her devotion to film as a critic, she later turned to making her own, previous of which was “Darwin’s darlings”, a creative documentary on the animals on both sides of the separating glass in zoos. The film got nominated as a best debut in Latvian film awards in 2024, won "Best Baltic short" and Critic's Prize in 2ANNAS ISFF and received Jury Special Mention award in Drama ISSF. Ildze grew up in an ethnographic museum deep in the woodlands of the eastern part of Latvia in the 1990s, surrounded by old folk objects and songs that her mom made her sing so she wouldn't fall asleep behind the wheel. This folk material has inspired her latest film - the deadpan comedy "Where does the sun sleep at night?" Ildze is currently working on a new script about an urban swamp near her home, drawing on municipal statistics and medieval epic poetry tradition. Another project in works is a metal-music inspired radio theater.
