Cohabitants

SYNOPSIS

SINOPSE

Close to the Russian border, in Lake Peipus, lies the Estonian island of Piirissaar. It was settled 300 years ago by dissidents who wanted to escape the clutches of both the Orthodox Church and the Russian Army. With a sympathetic eye, this short film documents the idyllic life and rituals of the island's now dwindling population, which still cherish their Russian roots. COHABITANTS is a poetic appeal for the harmonious coexistence of two cultures.
